DISTRICT NEWS.

WAITAKAKUBU. ROLL OF HONOUR. A Roll of Honour containing the names of all the men from the Waitakaruru district who gave their lives in the Great War is to be in the new Memorial Church. Friends and relatives are asked to send the names and particulars of such men to Mr G. French. TENNIS. The Waitakaruru Tennis Club hopes to be able to open its season early next month. The concrete tennis court, which the Domain Board is having laid down, is about half finished. CRICKET. The first annual meeting of tha Waitakaruru Cricket Club was held on Monday evening, Mr N. Death presiding over a small attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet showed a satisfactory state of affairs, and the club decided to carry on. Mr J. Donaghy was appointed president, Messrs H. Berney, A. McClean, T. W. Elliott, J. Harold, A. H. Bj Jesen, C. W. Harris, and R. T. WiL Hams, vice-presidenta, Messrs H. Berney and S. Kendall delegates to the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association, and Mr S. Kendall secretary and treasurer. A social committee was appointed to organise dances, etc. A concrete pitch will be laid on the public domain by the Domain Board. Tlie first practice match will be held on Saturday next, and it is hoped that many new members will be then, enrolled. THE DOMAIN. The Waitakaruru Domain Board is an energetic body which is making every effort to encourage sport in the district. It has already authorised the laying down of a concrete tennis court and a concrete cricket pitch, well as the discing and levelling of the area. Paspalum will be sown, and shelter trees will be planted all along the boundary fences. Authority has aiso been given for the erection? of a pavilion.
