HAURAKI GENERAL COMMITTEE. MEETING AT PAEROA, A meeting of the General Committee of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in Mr W. Bain’s rooms, Paeroa, on Saturday evening, the president, Mr W. J. Hall, presiding over an attendance of twenty. The secretary explained that the meeting had been called for the purpose of arranging the schedule for the •forthcoming show, and to nominate judges. A sub-committee, comprising the president and Messrs Fathers, Veale, Stembridge, Buchanan, P. R. Hubbard, Johnstone, and the secretary, was set up with power to act in the arranging of the schedule of prizes for the November show. Messrs H. Hare, Lawrence, and the secretary were appointed to revise the existing list of members. BABY SHOW. It was decided to make provision for a baby show again this year, and that, three classes be provided up to six months, over tsix months to 12 months and over 12 months to two years. POULTRY CLASSES. A long discussion took place as to the advisability of making provision for poultry classes, several members contending that there would be plenty of competition, and that provision of such classes would add considerable interest in the show. Finally it was decided that owing to lack of suitable accommodation at the domain, the matter be held in abeyance until i.ext year. The president undertook to make inquiries with reference to securing suitable pens for holding exhibition birds. DOG TRIALS. A suggestion was put forward that sheep dog trials might be held on the first day of the show, but after the matter had been fully discussed it was agreed that owing to the depleted state of the association’s finances the proposal could not be undertaken this year. DOG CLASSES. It was resolved that provision for two cattle dog classes should be made, and that Mr Irwin Hunt, Te Aroha, be asked to act as’judge. CHAIN STEPPING. On the motion of Mr Byrne, seconded by Mr Buchanan, it was decided to hold a chain-stepping competition. MUSIC FOR PEOPLE'S DAY. A lengthy discussion was held in connection with " the suggestion that the services of a band or other music should be procured for People’s Day, and the matter was left in the hands of the secretary and president to obtain quotations from Te Aroha, Waihi, and Thames bands. MEMBERS’ TICKETS. In reply to a member the president said that the association was not in a position to admit school children free to the show. On the motion of Mr Buchanan, seconded by Mr Porritt, it was resolved that members’ tickets should include the bona fide children of a member up to the age of 14 years. ATTRACTIONS FOR FIRST DAY. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the schedule committee to increase the the number of competitions for the first day of the show. After a number of canvassers had been appointed the meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Bain for the use of his room.
