GOLF.

The second round of the competition for the president’s trophy, was played on Saturday last, W. J. Byrne gaining first place and receiving 3 points. H. Bray, W. R. Dales, and C. Kenny tied for next place, and these players will play off for the remaining 3 points. The position of the competition now is as follows: H. Bray, 3 points; W. J. Byrne, 3 points; P. R. Hubbard, 2 points ; W. R. Dales, 1 point. The tie for second and third place in last Saturday's match by Bray, Dales, and Kenny reveals an interesting position, and in the play-off for these places some good golf should be witnessed. Next Saturday will be an open day for the men, no competition being arranged for that-day by the club. This should afford competitors in the championship and club handicap events to play off some of their matches. . LADIBH. The Bogey Handicap competition, over 18 holes, played last Saturday for a trophy presented by Mrs K - EMiller, was won by Mrs W. L. Lawrence with a score of 1 up. Tn the final round of the Club Handicap competition on the same afternoon Mrs H. Bray beat Mrs W. Bain 1 up. " The committee has arranged for members of the local club to journey to Themes to-morrow to play a match against members of the Thames Golf Club. Competitors will travel by the train leaving Paeroa at 11 a.in. .

Next Saturday members are requested to play an L.G.U. round and hand their cards on completion to the captain. ' Players will arrange their own partners in each case.
