. TO-NIGHT. THE NEAR LADY. A cnapter of life’s social code will be shown at the Gaiety Theatre tonight in "The Near Lady,” a Universal feature in which Gladys Walton is starred. The story has as a basis a plan whereby a family well planted in the Blue Book of society could retain its rating when the bank account dropped below par, and whereby another family of weak social rating but with qualities of newly acquired wealth could attain the upper rounds of the social ladder. The idea is developed from a comedy angle, made particularly funny by the titles, and has unusual entertainment value. TO-MORROW NIGHT. MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! Money is the root of all the evil that goes toward providing dramatic interest in the latest Katherine MacDonald photoplay which will be the attraction at the Gaiety Theatre tomorrow night. “Money ! Money ! Money I” is the title of the production, and Miss MacDonald explains the reason for the unusual title in the role oi Priscilla Hobbs, who, as the daughter of a struggling manufacturer, leads her father, through her own social ambitions, into signing a note for twenty thousand dollars in anticipation of a big legacy. The legacy proves to amount to about twelve dollars, but while the money lasts the splurge that Priscilla makes causes no end of talk in the little midwestern town of Thermopolis. It. is when the money begins to go that the plot takes on new interest, and Miss MacDonald is called upon to deliver the very best of her emotional talent.
