VALEDICTORY
MISS T, WHITE TRANSFERRED. - A POPULAR SCHOOL TEACHER. The esteem in which Miss T. White is herd by the people of Netherton was demonstrated on Wednesday evening by the large and representative gathering that assembled at the Netherton Hall to bid farewell to this popular school teacher. A dance was organised by the School Committee in co 1 junction with the Sports and Recreation Club, of which Miss White until recently has been secretary. During the supper interval Mi; C. H. Potter, in a few well chosen words, referred to the praiseworthy manner in which Miss White had carried out her unties, and on behalf of the School Committee asked her to accept a travelling rug, and on behalf, of the Spoils Club a suitably inscribed xyoloi ite hairbrush, comb, and mirror.
Mr Rice, headmaster of the school, on M,ss White’s behalf briefly returned thanks for the appreciation shown for he- services.
Auld Lang Syne was then sung and three cheers heartily given for Miss White
Dancing was evarried on until about 2 a.m.. excellent music being provided by Smith's orchestra, from Hikutaia. Songs were rendered during the evening by Mrs Adams and Miss MeCullay. ami were deservedly encorc-d.
Mu,s White will take up her new duties at Papakura on the first of the month. A presentation will be made by the pupils of the school this atfernoon.
