HAMILTON STOCK SALE.
At Hamilton on Tuesday last the yarding of stock was .smaller than usual, cattle especially being much short of the average. The demand for sheep was far from brisk, and a good percentage of the yarding failed to change hands at auction. The bulk was, however, disposed of privately. Fat ewes made to 27s 6d, forward to 21s, aged 13s 9d ; lambs up to 18s Id. A draft of Romney rams sold at 19s. Competition for beef was brisk, and everything of this class was quitted without difficulty. Best steers made to £l2 10s, light weights £8 7s to £9 10s ; best cows £5 17s 6d, light weights £4 5s to £5 5s ; forward cows £2 5s to £3 ; store cows 17s 6d to £1 ss. Pigs drew good competition fior all classes and improved slightly on last week’s values. Baconcrs made to £4 Is, light weights £3 to £3 10s ; best porkers te £2 15,5. light weights 37s to £2 7s 6d I wenners from 8s 6d to 19s.
