SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
local period extended.
ALTERATIONS AT THE SCHOOL. Owing to alterations to the sanitary conveniences and the nom-arrival of necessary fittings from Dunedin on Friday last the committee of the Paeroa District High School was faced with a serious difficulty on Saturday. After consultation with the Auckland Education Board’s foreman, Mr Porter, who is at present in Paeroa, and telephonic communication with Mr ® C. Purdie, secretary of the Board, it was deemed advisable to delay the reopening of the school for a further week, by which time it is confidently expected that the sanitary work will be completed. The school will, therefore, not open until Monday next, June 2. Owing to the difficulty of getting into touch with the Board’s secretary on Saturday afternoon the local committee regrets that it was not possible to give- parents and teachers earlier advice that the reopening of the school had been postponed.
