FOOTBALL.

PLAINS RUGBY UNION. GENERAL MEETING. A meeting of the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union was held in the Ngatea Hall last evening, Mr J. Costello (president) presiding over Messrs F. Wallis, H. Green, W. Thompson, J. H. Nicholson, V. Williams, E. Bcrtelscn, W. Mclnnis, G. W. Davidson, and J. N. Anderson (lion, secretary). As instructed, the secretary submitted a new set of rules for adoption by the union. They Were read, explained, and adopted, with one addition, and the secretary was congratulated on the care and attention he had given the matter. Mr H. Dent wrote intimating that it was his intention to donate a gol l medal to the best forwatd or best back during the season. Mr J. H. Nicholson also offered to donate a medal for the best forwaid Nicholson’s to the best forward. "’be offers were accepted, and votes of 'hanks were carried to the donors. It was decided that Mr Dent's medal he allotted to the best back and Mr Nicholson’s to the best forwarded. The secretary of the Thames Rugby Union wrote suggesting the playing of a junior match before the hiter-uhion match at Thames on May 24, or, if that was not possible, at the same time.

The secretary said that if the teams travelled by launch they would have to leave Kerepeehi about 11 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. from Thames. The alternative was to travel by motorbus; It was decided to send a junior team, the matter of transportation being left to the secretary. It was decided to ask the senior and junior selectors to publish the representative teams on Monday next. Waitakaruru, at Turua, Dr. Valentine (seniors), Mr J. Reid (juniors) ; Ngatea v. West, at Patctonga, Mr M. Leonard (seniors), Mr V. Williams (juniors) ; Coast v. Kcrepeehi, at Kopuarahi, Mr F. Stretton (seniors). Mr G. T. Davidson (juniors).
