USE OF ELECTRICITY.
COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS. SUGGESTIONS AT MEETING. At yesterday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Power Board Mr Willy suggested that the board should consider the advisability of giving cooking demonstrations by electricity at the A. and P. shows in the district. Mr Flatt thought it would be a sound policy for the board to consider giving demonstrations at lhe Ngatea show, as by sp doing the settlers on all parts of the Hauraki Plains would have an opportunity of learning what could be done by electricity. Whiie agreeing that cooking demonstrations by the board in its various centres would be a good policy, he thought the outlying settlements using electricity were rather left .out of it. as the settlers would not drive miles over bad roads to .see the demonstrations in the centres. He - thought the board should consider the mattes from an advertising point of view.
Mr Strange said he agreed with Mr Flatt’s remarks, and thought that a motor lorry should be fitted up with a complete stock of the lines cairiel by the board, and that it should canvass each district and bring the electric fittings and extras prominently before the settlers. If this was done during the summer, when money was possibly more plentiful, he believed the return from the sale of goods would warrant the undertaking. -
