ELECTRIC POWER.
THAMES VALLEY BOARD MEETING The regular meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held at Te Aroha yesterday, the chairman. Mr F. H. Claxton, presiding over the following: Messrs F. E. Flatt, W. E. G. Willy, J. McCormick, J. Pohlen, J. W. Anderson, F. M. Strange. C. A. Arthur J. B. Thomas, G. Howie, and P. Grace. Messrs Gauvain and McLeod, consulting engineers, and the secretary-manager. Mr R. Sprague, were also in attendance. LINE INSPECTION. Messrs Gauvain and McLeod, engineers to the boat'd, fm warded a series of plans showing description lives, transformer stations In ebnneztion with an application from the Public Works Department for a line inspection. GAZETTING OF LOAN. The State Advances Office informe 1 the board that the result of the poll sanctioning the raising of JR50.000 fm the purpose of purchasing and constructing electric power works had been gazetted. REMOVAL OF MOTOR. The Norfolk Dairy Co.. Morrinsville, wrote intimating that it desired to move a motor to the new factory and asking how much notice had to be given to the board. It was stated that two days’ notice was required. ENGINEERING course. Mr Willy, drew attention tc the representations that were being made by the Auckland University to have tlie full course of engineering, especially electrical engineering, taught in Auckland, and thus save studentthe necessity of going to Canterbm ? College, Christchurch, to pass for degree*. He contended that the board might pass a resolution supporting the educational authorities in Auckland. The following resolution was carried : "That in the opinion of this board the time has arrived when the Auckland University Senate should make facilities for the teaching - r students in engineering for the full course ” STATUTORY MEETING. It was decided to hold tlie statute, ■' m< etii'g of the board on Tuesday. May 27, and to follow on afterxvards witn the usual monthly meeting, and ,o cancel the June meeting. Mr Platt .asked if it would be possible to receive a copy of the report and balance-sheet a couple of days before the meeting so as to enable members to go into matters thoroughly prior to the meeting. The chairman said that it would not be practicable, but that every endeavour would be made to have a copy of the trading account for the year posted to members, but th.' power and loan accounts would not be ready before May 27. COST OF RETICULATION. Mr Willy asked if it would be possible to otbain a report showing the cost of reticulation and maintenance of the lines in the various counties to March 31 last. Mr Strange considered that the supply of reports showing ceiiiparative costs should not be encouraged, as apart from the fact that cotisidcrabl-‘ exrta work was thrown on the staff, such reports tended to promote parochialism. The chairman intimated that the costs were based on roads and mileage rather than on con nth's and boroughs, and that Mr Willy’s request could not be complied with.
