ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE.
Sir, Will you he good enough to allow me space in the columns of your paper to enter an emphatic protest at the seeming want of reverence and decent feeling oh the part of some of the members of the Paeroa Golf Club. On Friday last (Anzac Day), when nutny citizens were paying reverent tribute to ‘the memory of the Fallen, the Golf Club found it necessary to hold a working bee to fix up the greens ready for the opening, and the work was carried out through the afternoon. This action seems to me to be a grave reflection on the members concerned. It is of little use trying to instil the true meaning of Anzac into the minds of our children it the-members of the Golf Club are going to treat Anzac Day as a holiday given them in which to prepare then’ greens, although they have had months in which to do the work. It is as well for the Golf Club that s', is not dependent on the public »or support. INDIGNANT. 4 '
