SHIELD CHALLENGE MATCH. A match for the Howell Williams Memorial Shield was. played at Waitakaruru on Good Friday between the Hopai and Waitakaruru tennis clubs, and resulted in the home team retaining the trophy. Coppins. 4—6 ; S. McClunc beat A. R. | Vo.vies. 6 —4. I Men’s Doubles.—Griffiths and Otter i beat Murphy and Coppins, 6 —l; C. I Stretton and McClune beat Vowles I and E. Coppins, B—68 —6 ;F. Stretton ami I N. Hedges beat D, Waite and L. S. I Bidwell. 6—2 ; I- Ladies' Singles—Miss Faherty beat Mrs Vowles, 6—4 ; Miss Harris lost to Mrs Motion, 6 —B. Cadies’ Doubles.—Miss Faherty and Miss Harris beat Mrs Motion and Mrs Vowles, 6 —2. j Combined Doubles. —F. Stretton and i Miss Beaver lost to D. Waite and Miss * Wade, 4—6 ; N.
