BOWLING.
EASTER TO URN AMENT. The Easter bowling tournament conducted by the local club evoked keen interest this year, and some interesting contests were held. Fine weather prevailed on Good Friday and Saturday, but on Easter Monday th-? intervals of drizzly rain somewhat marred the pleasure, although all the compc’itions were concluded. The green was in good order, considering the lateness of the season. Good Friday was devoted to a pro - gressive pairs tournament, at the conclusion of which it was found that Pinder and Williams (skips) had tied for first honours, as also had Purdie and Higgins (leads). On Saturday morning the competition was decitied by Pinder and Higgins playing Williams and Purdie, the result being a comfortable win for Pintier and Higgins. On Saturday the final round for the Brcnaii Memorial Shield was concluded, Moreland, McCullay, Olsen, Towers (skip), defeating Thwaites, Ellis, Turner, Power (skip). Great interest was evinced n .the game, anil the winning team was subjected to hearty congratulations. The second progressive i airs tournament was played on Easter Monday. and attracted a fair number of competitors. Tn the skips division F. Hayward and W. Purdie tied for first place, and will play off this afternoon. The leads competition was won by Morland. This afternoon players will take part in an ordinary “roll-up,” and this evening night bowling by electric light will be brought to a close.
