PAEROA RUGBY UNION. , ‘ \ COMMITTEE MEETING. The regular meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held bn Wednesday evening last, Mr W- T, Power presiding over a good attendance. REMOVAL FROM COMMITTEE. Mr F. Clarke, the Karangahake delegate, was removed from the man agement committee under rule 8 for absenting himself from three consecutive meetings of the committee. The Karangahake Club would be asked to nominate another delegate. REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS. The application of A, Thoma-s, L. Thomas, and H. Bloomfield for registration were held over pending furthrn information being received. A number of senior and junior players wore duly registered for various 'l’.'.bS; CANCELLATION OF PARADE. „Captain E. A. Porritt wrote acceding to the union’s request to cancel Hie half-day parade of Territorials on Saturday, April 26 owing to the open jug of the football season on that d.-de. and advised that the parade v <mld be ordered for May 17. It was decided to write and thank ( antain Porritt and the Defence auI'.ririties for the consideration shown be union in the matter. 1* THE BIRCH SHIELD. The Thames Rugby Union wrote requesting that the Birch Challenge ,Shield should be held in Thames, anl that the winning team should be responsible for adequate insurance cover on the trophy during the time it was held by that team. The question of an indemnity for a sum not exceeding £2 was also asked for. After some discussion it was decided to refer the letter to the Thames V-i’ley Union, with the intimation thathe Paeroa Union did not approve of the request. SELECTORS. Mr T. M. Wilkinson was elected a senior selector for the union in place of Mr E. Edwards, who advised that he was unable to accept the position. Mr Eugene Shaw was appointed second Junior selector. MATCH FIXTURE. It was decided to hold an unregistered match between West third-grade and a team from the Paeroa High S' hool’ this afternoon at 1.15 o’clock, to be, played oh the No. 2 ground. The season opens in Paeroa to-day, ami the West juniors will play Netherton as a curtain-raiser to the Sub ■ nibs and East senior match in th* domain.
