» The New Plymouth Harbour Board intends promoting a Bill during th-i coming session of Parliament so as to obtain authority to ask the ratepayers of Taranaki for permission to raise a loin of £600,000 for extensions to tlie port of New Plymouth. The Department of Agriculture. New South Wales, has certified that the Barbalara estate’s Shorthorn cow, Melton XV., in the last ten months produced 27,7551 b of milk, producing of butter. This is a world’s record. In the Arbitration Court al Wellington a man, 73 years of age, who had met with an accident which prevented him from working, sought compensation. At m ittins and evensong the old English Processional, “All glory laud and honour.” will be used, and during the evening service Mr Harold Hill wi*l sin« ihc tenor recitative “Thy rebuke hath broken His heart” and the air “Behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto His sorrow,” from Handel's “Messiah.” The Catholic Social Club held another enjoyable social evening in tlie R-- 1 timed Soldiers’ Club, Paeroa, on Tuesday evening. Dancing was indulged in, and a special feature of the evening's pleasure was the enjoyable music supplied by Smith’s orclmstra, from Hikutaia. Extras were played by Mrs W. Pennell, Misses CTaylor and J. Smith, and Mr C. T; yIbr. of Wellington. Mr J. Treanoi* as MC, was most attentive to his duties. An enjoyable supper was arranged by Mesdames W. Neil and J. Pennell, Woods Great Peppermint Cure, For Coughs and Colds, never fails.
