PAIETONGA. TENNIS CLUB’S ENTERTAINMENT. A senii-coniic operetta, "Princess Ju Ju." which, in spite of bad weather. proved a great attraction, was staged on Monday night in aid of the Tennis. Club funds. The staging was excellent in its oriental colour and effect. Mr W. Lloydd, late .f Pollard’s Opera Co., as “Ju Ju" made a most convincing Oriental, while Mr D. Pike as the Priiice held the interest of the audience. The acting of the rest c£ the cast was also excellent. Briefly, th” story deals with the prince possessing an amulet and a letter givm him by a wisewoman announcing that in some distant, clime a beautiful pirnce s. possessing the fellow-charm, awaited him. After much peril and pain, said the prboheey, success would errwn his efforts, and he would gain her as his bride. Very humorous ’s the act where the prince and his two companions, at the end of their ques*,find themselves in the court of the Mighty Hokipokitippitoptop —father of the princess—who immediately treats them as imposters. Fu Shu (Mr Smedlr-y) and the Executioner (Mr W Aims) were responsible for most of the merriment.
