PERENIKI SETTLERS AND FLOOD.
(To the Editor). . Sir, —In your paper of 3ist Marco you refer “in your leading article :.o the uneasiness of the business people of Paeroa township when it was thought that a flood Was imminent, and rightly so. 1 also noticed fit amther part of your paper how some business people braved the elements by returning to their shops and removing to a higher level any goods lying on the floor. The township i' certainly in danger of being flooded, but what about those settlers living on Pereniki Bend ? Many of these settlers have young families, and their position at present is extremely dangerous. The way the stopbanking is constructed the whole of the flood water of the river willrftour in upon them, and they have no way of escape other chan being rescued by' boat. - I am, etc., ONE WHO KNOWS.
