NEW POST OFFICE.
SKETCH PLANS PREPARED. • AUTHORITY GIVEN FOR TENDERSThe secretary of the Geneial Post Office, Wellington, Mr A. Markman, addressed the following letter to His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. Marshall • ‘'Further to my letter of the Sth ultimo. I have pleasure in informing you that authority has now been obtained for the calling of tenders for a new post office building to be erected at Paeroa.
“Sketch plans of the proposed building have been prepared, and have been forwarded to the Chief Postmaster, Thames, with instructions that you are to be given an opportunity of examining the plans at Paeroa. It is suggested, therefore, that you make inouiries accordingly of the postmaster. Paeroa.
"You will notice from the proposed lav-out of the building on the site that the new building i,s to be placed back sufficiently to permit of an area in the front of the structure being available for grassing. 1* shall he glad to learn in due course that your Council is agn cable to maintain the area in question in return for the use of it as a grass plot.” The president of the Chamber of Commerce has received a letter from the Hon. J. G. Coates, PostmasterGeneral. that authority has been obtained to invite tenders for the work of erecting the new post office for Paeroa oil the corner of Normanby Road and Princes Street.
