Accounts totalling £lB6 14s 2d weie passed for payment, which amount would increase the bank overdraft to £957. The president stated that on W paper the last show had resulted in a deficiency of £69 16s 7d, but that amount would be reduced ,as several outstanding amounts had yet to come in. ,
Reference was made to the large number of outstanding subscriptions, amounting to £l6l, and it was decided to make a further effort to have that total reduced. It was considered very unsatisfactory for the association to be carrying such a load of debt when people could assist so materially-by paying their dues.
The president said that the resu’t of the last show had been disappointing, but he thought it was only to be expected. Paeroa had been no excep - tion, as he had knowledge, of kindred associations running their shows at a lose last year. GIFT STOCK SALE. ,v long discussion took place as to the advisability of organising a gift stock sale with a view to reducing th” liabilities. Finally it was decided to hold such a sale at Hikutaia on April 16, and canvassers were appointed to tour the district and solicit cattle for the purpose. AWARD RIBBONS. Mr Silcock stated that in h>s opinion .the amount paid tor award ribbons (£2l Ils) was excessive. Mr Reid agreed, and suggested that either cheaper ribbons should be purchased or else they be done away with (excepting championships) and award 'tickets given.
The secretary agreed that tjir amount appeared excessive, but stated that the championship ribbons had been of particularly good quality, while the first prize ribbons were cheaper, and so on down to a very cheap ribbon for third prize. Mr Marsh mentioned that he had heard several competitors at the show speak very highly of the quality ,of the award ribbons, and he was of the opinion that it would be a pity to cheapen them. Afte.- .further discussion the matter was held over until the annual meetins.
