COMMISSIONER HOGGARD’S VISIT.

BIG DAY IN PAEROA. Commissioner Hoggard, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, and Brigadier Gunn paid an official visit to Paeroa on Wednesday last, and were officially welcomed by Captain Prince, of the local army corps. In tlie afternoon an Army Officers’ Council was held, at which Field Officers from Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Aroha, Waihi-, Thames, and the local officers were present, after which an Army tea was held in the hall. In the evening a public worship meeting was conducted in the barracks by the Commissioner, assisted by the officers present. A large number of visiting Salvationists were present from Te Aroha and Thames, and the barracks- were • well filled with local residents. At the conclusion o( this meeting a Half-night of Prayer gathering was held, at which fifteen local people went forward to receive the Higher Blessing at the Commissioner’s hands. The addresses at the meetings were soul-inspiring, yet simple and loving, and that good has been accomplished is already shown by the number of conversions made. Commissioner Hoggard left, by yesterday’s express r for Hamilton, cn route to his headquarters in Wellington.
