MT W. D. Harkness, chief dairy in - spector, of Hamilton, was in Paeroa to day.
The many friends of Captain H. Peacock, who is still an inmate of the Thames Hospital, will Le pleased to learn that he has shown a decide ! improvement during the last few days.
Mr D. Haskell, who has been stationed in Paeroa for the past two years on the clerical staff of the Public Works Department, has been transferred to the engineering branch of the department at Gisborne. Mr G. Gibson, of Westport, replaces Mr Haskell in Paeroa.
Mr and Mrs G. H. Vowles, .ff Thames Road. Hikutaia, left on Wednesday for Wellington, where they propose catching the Remuera, which is sailing for England to-morrow mm'ning. After visiting his mother, who resides in Bristol, P is Mr Vowles’ intention to be present at the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley. Mr Vowles expects to be absent from New Zealand for about six months.
