KEREPEEHI.

HOSPITAL SITE

A public meeting was held at Kerepeehi on Friday last to consider matters in connection with the hospital site and the fund for its purchase. Mr W. Booth was appointed to the chair, and presided over an attendance of about twenty.

Mr W. Booth wasi appointed secretary of the Hospital Site Fund Com mittee,: vice Mr J. J. Jenkin. Mr J. M. Thompson was appointed treasurer, and with the secretary was authorised to operate on the bank account. The position in regard to the purchase of the site was reported to be in about the same position as two yc trs ago, except that in the meantime £146 had been raised.

A committee-, comprising Messrs W. Booth, W. Thompson, J. Twist, and HWard, was appointed to straighten out tlie affairs and report to a later meeting. HALL PIANO. The position in regard to the publicly owned piano in use in the Kerepeehi hall was discussed at a meeting of settlers on Friday evening last, when it ivas reported that there was a <mall sum in hand, but apparently nothing had been collected for the use of the piano for some time. Messrs W. Booth and J. M. Thompson were instructed to investigate an l report.

The publicly-owned crockery at the h ill was reported to be decreasing, as I)leakages were not being replaced by users. Mr W. Herkt was appointed custodian, and regulations end a scale of charges were adopted. NGATEA. VALEDICTORY. A representative gathering of Ngr;teaites assembled at the hall on Monday evening to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs C. Mellor, who are leaving the district. In presenting Mr Mellor with three cheques on behalf of the factory staff, the hall society, and the football club, Mr G. T. Davidson, said that with the departure of Mr and Mrs Mellor Ngatea would .suffer a distinct loss. During the three years he had been in Ngatea Mr Mellor had been first assistant at the butter factory, and had always been willing to assist in any movement for the advancement of the district. He had filled the position of secretary to the Hall Society and the

-Football Club creditably and well - Socially, both Mr and Mrs Mello: would be greatly missed.
