Tiie Brenan Memorial Challenge Shield competition was advanced a further stage last evening, when W. Smith, Lawrence, Hale, and G. H. Taylor (skip) met and defeated Mettam, R. Thorp, Gibb, and P. HagueSmith (skip). The .scores were 26 —20. The win obtained by G. H. Taylor’s team last night does not alter its position in the competition. W. Power’.; team will meet Tower’s team and play off for the final. On Saturday next the ■champion of champions competition is to be held at Matamata, and W. J. Towers, this year’s local singles champion, will represent’the Paeroa club. Next Saturday four rinks and 3 rink of new players will represent the local club in an inter-club match with Hikutaia, to be played at Hikutaia. The names of . those selected will appear in Friday’s “Gazette.”
