HOT GEYSER DRIES UP.
HEAVIER SHOCKS PREDICTED.
TOKYO, Monday. ■ Two heavy earthquake shocks are-x reported from Atami, close to the centre of the September, 1923, earthquake, yesterday, after which a hot geyser, which has been playing regularly since September, dried up.. Last night cinders covered the town, while the island of Oshima was. invisible owing to apparent smoke clouds, believed to be an explosive eruption of volcanoes there. Dr. Nakamura, the leading seismolo - gist, says that while reports are not officially confirmed, he believed the recent phenomena indicate an early renewal of seismic activities in Tokyo and the neighbourhood, and predicts heavy shocks about equal to those of January 15. X Two minor shocks were experienced at Tokyo in the early morning. People are highly nervous as a resuit of the prediction.
