WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.
The Farmers’ co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — The market for beef is distinctly firmer, with supplies of ox beef decreasing. Cows are still plentiful, the lighter weights being in keen Jemand
Mutton also seems to be hardening although there is no apparent scarcity. Prime wethers are, however, difficult to procure.
The yardings of store cattle continue to be small,, and are mostly a nondescript nature; indeed, it is unusual to .see anything but oddments penned. A forward movement however, seems imminent, especially with respect to grown cattle, and it is certain cattle of this description would meet with a good reception/ Forward and store cows are in fair de-, maud, but heifers r.w.b. and calves are practically unsaleable. There is much firmer inquiry for store sheep, all classes participating. Recent sales of breeding ewes have been excellent. Store lambs have in some instancs advanced too far to be stable. Good lines of wethersi could be readily placed, but are not plentifu.
Although still selling freely, the market for pigs is slightly easier, but no doubt the decline is piily temporary. ' Store pigs have slackened considerably.
