CROQUET.
Despite the bald and bumpy condition of the local croquet green, an enjoyable competition was played on Wednesday afternoon last for trophies presented by Mrs McGruer and Mrs W. H. Taylor. There was a large attendance of members and the players were divided into A and B grades an 1 played break croquet for the purpose of the competition. At the conclusion, about four o’clock, a dainty afternoon tea was served by the committee. Mrs Conoliy, the club’s president, in an appropriate speech, presented the ( ophies to Mrs G. H. Taylor, who won the A competition, and Miss Gibson, winner of the B grade.
