TURUA. STOCK SALE. At Messrs Buckland and Son’s sale ■*' en Friday last there w.as above the average yarding,-and keen competition reigning, the prices realised being very satisfactory. A steady demand for good beef sent prices for good fat cow,s up to £6 15s. Lighter cows brought from £3 10s to £4 15s, while others realised up to £3 10s, according to quality. A pen of small fat steers sold at £6 ss. There was a big yarding of bulls, and these sold well, bringing from 30s to £6. No ' cattle were yarded. A P«i of fat hoggets brought 255. netherton. , £ SCHOOL PICNIC. The Netherton School annual picnic took place on Saturday, February 2, at Netherton, in a paddock kindly granted by Messrs J. Morrison and Sons The day was fine,, and a large gathering of children and adults assembled to take part in the day's sports and games. Prizes of. well-chosen books ’were presented to every child by Mr;< Potter, aft under school age/receiving a jewel packet. All the children reicived a bag of sweets. Lunch and tr-a were served, and praise is due to ibe ladies in charge. A large programme of sports and games wa,s carried through successfully, due to the rble manner in which the sports committee carried out its duties. The thanks of the school committee
