WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. reports :— Beef.—The market still remains fairly steady. Supplies consist principally of cow beef. This the export companies are in a position to handle, and in consequence competition is well sustained. Steer beef is not p’entiful. Mutton. —The market is well supplied and has now declined to the freezing level. Lambs—Lambs still remain at S ‘Ad per lb for export. There are not likely to be many further drafts until supplies are available oft rape. Store Cattle.—The market is still quiet, little stock coming forward and little inquiry to. encourage it. The absence of male cattle is very noticeable. Store Sheep.—ln spite or predictions to the contrary all classes of store sheep have been well received. As forecasted in our last report,’those lequirbng breeding ewe.s want them early, and until their needs are filled competition will be present. The hopes entertained by some that large consignments would be forwarded from other localities are not likelv z to be fulfilled. Lambs still continue to draw good bidding, especially any lots suitable for rape. Pigs—Value has improved a little, notwithstanding the heavy yarding*. The season so far must be looked upon as very satisfactory,-a decline to last year’s level being unlikely. ,Ve quote as follows: Bullocks, * h-'avy prime £7 10s to £8 10s, medium £6 5s to £7 5s ; cows, heavy young £5 to £6 10s, medium £3 15s to £4 10s, forward £2 10s to £3, .stores £1 5s to £1 15s; steers, forward 4-year £4 12s 6d to £5 2s 6d, stores £3 15s to £4 10s, best 3%-year £3 10s to £4, best Shorl- - horn 2%-year £3 to £3 15s, medium £2 10S to £3 ; best 18-months steers £2 to £2 10s, medium £1 15s to £2.
