WILSON’S ROAD.
THE FORMATION WORK. RATEPAYERS LEND A HAND. The formation work on Wilson’s Road was considerably advanced during the past week. On Wednesday last a number of members of the Netherton Ratepayers’ Association formed themselves into a working bee, and with horses and drays supplied for the occasion they moved .some 100 loads o£ clay from the road in the vicinity of Drain H. and completed the formation work at another point, so that given reasonably fine weather, and regular supplies of metal being received, .this road should be metalled for almost its entire lentgh within a very short time. The work carried out by the working bee has been of great assistance to the Hauraki Plains County Council, and will not only expedite the laying down of a metal road, but it lias saved the council what would have been a heavy expenditure on formation work.
Those who loaned horse,s apd drays were Messrs J. A. Reid, T. Vowles, C. H. Potter, R. Locke, and G. Wilson, who were assisted by Messrs C. H. Sloinbridge, R. Wilson, and M. Daley. The members of this association are to be congratulated on their enterprise and willingness to assist the council, thereby improving their own facilities and conditions. It is no small matter for the average farmer to spare a day and loan himself, horses, and dray for voluntary work on a road, especially at this time of the season
It is understood that this progressive association intends calling a meeting in the near future to consider the question of raising a special reading loan, which it is proposed to spread over the whole of the Netherton riding.
