GOLDFIELDS stars.
SATURDAY’S PROCEEDINGS
On Saturday afternoon the Hikuta;a Bowling Club made their initial attempt- to wrest the Goldfields Stars from the holders. The match was played on the Paeroa green, the holders being Gibb, Le Cocq,'Towers and Williams (skip). The challenging team consisted of Morrison, I. Robinson, A. Robinson, and Car (skip). The game was a very well contested one, the holders retaining the coveted stars by 25 to 14. In congratulating the Hikutaia visitors on the good fight they made the local president, Mr W. Power, expressed the hope that in the near future the .Hikutaia club would be in the happy position of being -able to welcome challenging teams to their green. During- the afternoon Mr Power; the president of the Paeroa Bowling Club, -in a happy speech, presented, on behalf of the club, a goldmounted fountain pen to Mr, M. J. Harris, one of the past presidents, who is shortly returning to Australia. Mr Harris, in returning thanks to the members for their token of goodwill. referred to the pleasant recollections he had of his period in office, and to the pleasing memories of many happy hours he had spent on the bowling green, and wished the club every success in the future. COROMANDEL VISITORS. Advice has been received that a number of touring bowlers from Coromandel will arrive in Paeroa to-mor-row, and will take part in a boiling match with the local club. Three rinks are expected to arrive.
