BOWLING.
SATURDAY'S GAMES. Perfect weather prevailed for all kinds of sport on Saturday last, and the local bowling green was. well patronised. The afternoon was devoted to inter-rink games, and several rinks played a further round in the; Brcnaai Memorial Shield Championship. A marked improvement was noticed in the playing state of the green, which had been cut and rolled on Saturday morning instead of, as was the practice in the pa’st, being attended to on Friday. The brilliant sunshine made the green very fast, despite the fact that on some rinks th<»re was almost a total absence of grass.
A Paeroa team, comprising Bayfield, Black, Purdie. and Williams (skip), journeyed to Hikutaia on Saturday to play that club for the Alley Challenge Buttons, and after a very enjoyable game the Paeroa team won comfortably, the scores being, Paeroa 26, Hikutaia 16. The members of the Paeroa team are lend in their praise of the unbounded hospitality and true sportsmanlike behaviour of the Hikutaia club. The fraternal side of bowling is. ever to the fore with the Hikuta’a club, and no effort is spared to give visitors an enjoyable afternoon’s spert.
