THE NGATEA SCHOOL

MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Ngatea District High School Committee was hold on Wednesday evening, when there were present: Messrs W. McDuff (chairman), W. J. Clare, E. Walton, and C. W. Schultz (secretary).

A letter was received from an Auckland firm stating that the war memorial tablet would be delivered eaily in January.

The Education Board submitted the name of Miss /Elsie Mabbitt, at present assistant at Takanini school, for . the position of assistant at the Ngatea school which was rendered vacant by the transfer of Miss McGinlay, for approval by the committee. —Decided to agree to the appointment. ■

A circular memorandum was received from the Education Board encasing a communication from the Director of Education referring to the necessity for the greatest care in the protection of school property from circumstances that might cause fire. It was - left in the hands of the chairman to arrange to have the woik of tarring and sanding an area of the playgroup around the school done.

An application was received from the Ngatea Tennis Club for permission to improve and use the tennis courts in the school-grounds.

The committee decided to grant permission, and to forward the circular in reference to the danger from fire to the Tennis Club.

It was decided to point out to the Tennis. Chib, that the only way in which a subsidy could be obtained would be for the club to donate the money to the committee, but that if the club donated any money to the committee the latter would undertake to spend such donation, and any subsidy granted thereon, for the purpose for which the money was given by the club.

Accounts totalling £5 Os 3d were passed .for payment.
