FATETONGA. , BAZAAR. A successful bazaar was held at Patotcnga on th 14th Inst, in aid of the hall funds. Mr J. Patterson performed the opening ceremony, and paid special tribute to the excellent management *■> of the committee, the hall being effectively decorated: with : nikAO- ferns. The stalls were -well filled with good things, and there was i a large attendance. Much credit* was * due to Mrs darken and Mrs S medley * and Misses' darken a nd O’Connor i for the excellent manner in which: they j served afternoon tea. Mrs I Pollen, Mrs* Mayn, and Mrs* Tapper; were iy. charge of the plain and fancy j good stall, while the sweet stall, sur-! rounded by its crowd of sweet-toothed i youngsters, and others, was run by; Mrs Collins, her daughters, and Miss! A. Burgess. Mrs Lindsay and Mrsi Paterson presided over the produce: stall. On Saturday evening the function* wound up. Much was added to the* enjoyment of the evening by the: numerous guessing competitiona 1 ,? dances, and several musical items! rendered by Mr R. Buchanan, Mr« Wallace, and Mrs Wallace.. Mr W. : Patoky gave a recitation containing many Local" hits which was well received, and Mr 0. darken then proceeded with the auctioneering of the! remaining goods. Mr Mayn, the sec-i retary, stated that the proceeds! amounted to £132.

FTPIROA CRICKET. A cricket, club <was formed at Pipiroa lastt.week. ■ The officers elected' were : President, Mr W. Ganley, senr.ji vice-presidents, Messrs; J. Porter, FWallis, H. Fraser, and S. W. Rolfe; secretary and, treasurer, Mr P. Clark.i A. fair number of members were enrolled. Subscriptions were fixed at ss, : The. prospects for a successful season are good; as there-are several: other clubs within a short distance.'
