SHOPPING ACTIVITIES.
BUSY TIME IN PAEROA. The retailers have had a very busy week, and if this'eontinues until closing time this evening it is anticipated that shopkeepers in Paeroa will attain a record, or something very close to it. The Paeroa Business Men’s Association showed its wisdom in deciding on holding a late night on Saturday, as well as this evening. On Saturday afternoon and evening the town was exceptionally busy, an;l there is no doubt the farming community were glad of the chance to come into Paeroa and do the bulk o-f their Christmas shopping, and it is safe to assume - that by so doing a fair amount of outside capital found its way into the town which might easily have been spent elsewhere. The local shopkeepers are to be commended on their efforts this year, and the shop windows have never before been so well or brilliantly dressed, while the interior displays are quite on. a par with the outward show. The recent rain has apparently given a decided stimulus to purchasing, as the rain has put heart into our country visitors especially, and the welcome downpour on Thursday last has added thousands of pounds to the assets of our primary producers There is every indication of the fine weather holding until this evening, at any rate, .when it is expected that the business peoyle will be fully rewarded for their efforts and enterprise.
