The Paerpa Volunteer Fire Brigade hold, its fortnightly practice in Norinanby Road last evening. The ho-;e was coupled to the fire-plug near the ; residence of Mr Taiboys, and several lengths were run out, up to the Roman Catholic Church and Convent. Captain W. Moore states that t/here is ample hose to reach round the buildings, and the water pressure in that locality is considered satisfactory. The attention of Captain Moore was drawn to the insufficiency of fireplugs in Nomanby Road, and at the present time the residents of Russell and Willoughby streets are situated a considerable distance from the plugs. The'brigade has noted the fact and intends to make represeni ations !o the Fire Council for a fire-plug to be ? put in near the foot of Russell Street, from which point it is considered that, some five houses could be reached with the brigade’s fire-fighting appliances.
