THE PAEROA BURGLARY.
ANOTHER REMAND. The man George Scothern, who was previously remanded in connection with breaking and entering the Paeroa branch of the Farmers’ Union Trading Co. on November 7, appeared at the Waihi Police Court yesterday, and on the application of the Police a further remand was granted for seven days, bail being fixed at £600., being an increase of £4OO. In connection with this case, it is worthy of record that owing to the amount of bail fixed it was necessary to take Scothern through to the Thames Gaol. After starting on the journey, however, the Police received advice to the effect that owing tp the congested state prevailing at the Thames Gaol no further prisoners could be admittedUnder the circumstances the police had to return to Waihi with the accused.
