The amount of business transacted by the Hauraki Plains County Coun- • ’ ;>t it.s monthly meetings is. enormous. Besides matters of routine and maintenance, questions affecting such matters as permanent; reading, water supply, bridges, quarries, and machinery are regularly brought up. As a rule the meetings last until or after midnight,, and on an average over 50' resolutions are carried at each meeting.. While it cannot be denied tha‘| on occasions time is wasted by the council, it is obvious that the amount of business transacted is greater than can be dealt with in a proper manner in one day. The work of laying down a second tennis court for the Kopuarahi Club was commenced on Wednesday last. The court will be of concrete covered with tar and sand. The job is being do’ne by members of the club and is expected to take about a fortnight. The official opening of the season will be held shortly afterwards
