METAL FOR PLAINS.
MAUKORO QUARRY SITE. AREA PURCHASED BY COUNTY. At the meeting of the Hauraki Plains. County Council yesterday Cr. Mayn reported that, together with Or. Mcljoughlin, he had interviewed the owners of the metal deposit at Maukoro and had secured options. Mr J. A. Hart would in consideration of the sum of £lO deposit sell to the council 25 acres of land containing a deposit of metal, a further sum of £4O to be paid in completion of sale when the loan purposals were carried by the ratepayers. This option would give the council the right to enter upon, work, and develop the quarry from date. Mr S. T. Pateman for the sum of £2TO would sell approximately 462 acres. On completion of the sale the freehold title must be obtained. The county was to pay £5O deposit and the balance on the carrying of the loan. The deposit would be forfeited if the loan was not carried or the sale was not completed. The right to mill timber was reseved for 12 months. The council would become the owner bf a four-roomed house on the property on completion of the sale. It was decided fthat the clerk be authorised to pay the deposits, and that,,the purchases be completed. Also that the Commissioner of Crown Lands be acquainted with the conditions of purchase and asked for a transfer of title. Cr. Parfitt said that great credit was due to Crs. Mayn and McLoughlin for completing the deal so satis - factorily. The matter of obtaining a right of way to the quarry was left in the hands of Cr,s. McLoughlin and Mayn.
