JERSEY BREEDERS.
THAMES VALLEY CLUB. IMPORTATION OF YOUNG BULL. Some months ago the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club, Paeroa, decided to purchase a young bull direct from Jersey Island, with a view tp improving the blood of the Jersey stock. Accordingly, the secretary wrote to the headquarters of the Jersey breeders on the Island, giving flull particulars of the type of bull required by the club. The following reply has been received by the secretary, Mr J. K. Dean, from Mr J. A. Perree, senior vice-president of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society, St. Saviour’s, Jersey : — “At the time of writing I do not know of a yearling bull possessing the qualifications you require at a reasonable price, but it is possible by the time that shipping facilities ara available that one will turn up. I conclude that you want a bull of sufficient merit to win honours in the show ring and also having butter-fac records on both sides of his pedigree. Au animal like this commands a high price, mainly due tp the fact that he will earn a considerable amount in stud fees flor his owner. It may be difficult to obtain photographs of the dam and grand-dam, as it is not the custom here to photograph animals such as it is with you, but in any case as soon as I have anything suitable I shall let you know at once. You may depend on my best endeavours to further the interest of the breed in New Zealand.”
