PLAINS DAIRYING.
PROSPECTS OF GOOD SEASON. Prospects for a good dairying season on the Plains are now very brightPastures are showing a luxuriant growth, and the forage contains more nutriment than that grown earlier in the season. The Plains is a district, unfitted at present tp stand an abnormal spell of wet weather, and the past winter wasi the worst ever experienced. Tn many parts stock have wintered well, and are how doing splendidly. However, there are parts where a shortage of feed was experienced at the commencement of the milking season, resulting In a decreased yield. The flush of feed coming later than usual is having the effect of fattening 'cows to the detriment of the milk yield, but the quantity of milk received at the local factories is almost the same as in previous years. Local conditions which cause the Plains to suffer during ait excessively wet season are compensated for by the amazing fertility of the soil.
