WAIHI BEACH.

UNDER BOROUGH CONTROL. SECTIONS NOW AVAILABLE!, It is now some years since the Waihi Borpugh Council made its first move to acquire the land fronting the coast and now .known as the Waihi Beach. Many obstacles have from time to time been overcome, and the council is at last in a position to lease sections at this desirable seaside resort The beach is about seven miles from Waihi township, and is reached by branching off the Waihi-Tauranga Road about a mile from Waihi, then travelling along an earth road to the coast. This road is now being forme 1 and is to be metalled by the Waihi Borough Council. The access to this beautiful beach has been a great hindrance in the past, but as soon as the metal is laid it will be a pleasant drive, and will be one pf the chief watering places of the province. The beach has an extent of some six miles of unbroken sand, and is .an extremely picturesque and popular spot in the summer months. Excellent fishing can be had, the Waihi Beach schnapper being a fine type of this fish. The reserve is fortunate in having, a good fresh water stream running through its grounds. There is also a store, dining rpom, and public telephone, and fresh goods are delivered daily from Waihi, thus giving visitors no worry about .supplies. There are now seventy cottages on the reserve, and as the plan ha& been open for selection by Waihi residents for the past two weekisi a lot more of the sections have been taken up, and the number of houses should very soon increase. The plans is now open to outside residents at rentals from £3 to £7 10s, according to the location. Applications for sections may be made to the Town Clerk, Waihi, whe will show intending applicants, over the ground on Saturday, November 10.
