Mr W. J. Byrne, of Paeroa, left last evening for Christchurch, en route to the Hamner Springs Convalescent Home. Owing to a recurrence of war disabilities Mr Bryne has been ordered into the home for treatment. Mr Carter Bowles, who has been appointed judge for the Thames Musical and Elocutionary Competitions next month, was born at Cheltenham, England, educated at Christchurch, England, and was for four years Carl Teague’s (the famous violinist) most promising pupil.
