It was decided to forward these to the Education Board, is requested. Mr Herkt opposed, contending that it would be preferable to move the school building and leave the trees standing. It was decided to ascertain from the Board what provision could be. made to house the school children during the alterations. It was mentioned that the contractor would probably start within a week or ten days. Mrs Loving stated that the classes could be accommodated in the teacher’s residence. The trouble would be to find somewhere for the infants. TURUA. SPORTS CLUB BALL. A most successful plain and fancy dress ball took place in the Victoria Hall, Turua, last evening. Over ninety couples took the floor, and as the majority of the ladies were in fancy costume a very pleasing spectacle was presented. The music, by Williams’ Jazzaramba Band, was irresistible, and the floor was in splendid order. Though it was not possible for all to dance at the same time, they were to.be excused for endeavouring to do so. When the time for judging the costumes arrived the committee, after a long deliberation, chose Miss D. Gemmings and Miss M. Clotworthy, who wore Eastern dresses, and Mr W. Davis (Indian) and Mr T. Gwi’liam (black cat) for the first and second honour respectively. The . duties of M.C. were in the able hands Mr J. McConnell. Towards midnight a very dainty supper was handed round. Dancing was then carried on until a very early hour. The Hauraki Plains Athletic and Sports Club is to be congratulated on the. success of the function, and speceial praise is due to the ladies’ committee. TENNIS CLUB FORMED.
