PEDIGREE SALE.
JERSEY BREEDERS’ CLUB. FAIR PRICES REALISED. The first annual sale of pedigree Jersey cattle under the auspices of the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club was held in the Paeroa Saleyards yesterday. There was a large, attendance of interested farmers from Hauraki Plains, Waihi, Mercury Bay, Te. Kuiti, and Thames Valley districts. Mr F. McCullough, of the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., wielded the hammer, and, as usual, did his utmost to secure fair prices for the stock. Although the Jersey Breeders’ Club decided to fix minimum bids, the special conditions, being shown in the catalogue, it was announced at the sale that the system of minimum bids had been rescinded. No doubt this was a very wise move on the part of the club, but it seems a pity that this condition was circulated in the catalogues, as no doubt it had a tendency to frighten prospective buyers away from the sale. The majority of the stock offered was in a fairly rough condition, and not particularly forward. This fact could be accounted for' by the hard winter and the lateness of the spring. Compared with other pedigree sales that have been held in the Auckland province this year yesterday’s sale compares very favourably indeed. In all some 24 lots were disposed of. The following is a list of vendors and purchasers for Jerseys and Friesians, there being no demand for Ayrshires:— JERSEYS. F. Causley’s Hauraki Kauri King, 15gns, G. Goodfellow, Waihou; W.
