STOCK SALE.

SUCCESSFUL DAY IN PAEROA. Quite a successful stock sale was held in the Paeroa yards on Monday last, when the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. offered some 150 head of cattle. There was a fair attendance of settlers from Paeroa, Tirohia, Rotokohu, Netherton, and Hikutaia. Great satisfaction was expressed by those present with the policy of the Auctioneering Co. in continuing to hold regular sales in Paeroa, and judging by the remarks made the farmers of the district for many round are not slow to grasp the opportunity of supporting such sales n the town. Being the natural centre of a very large dairying area Paeroa is ideally situated from every point of view. The tremendous saving of time, money, and labour to farmers by being able to bring their stock into Paeroa is readily recognised and appreciated by those who in the past have had perforce to drive their stock long distances, and very often to pay the. extra cost of railway charges for trucking their cattle to some neighbouring stockyards. At Monday’s sale springers were yarded in rather low condition, and the majority were passed in. Cows, forward in calf, me,t with good competition, and prices realised were from £8 to £9 10s. Springing heifers brought from £6 to £ll ss. There was a small yarding of fat cows, which niet with good competition, the bort bringing £9 7s 6d ; forward cows, £4 to £5 7s 6d; empty store epws, 25s to £2 15s. A few three-year steers were knocked down at £4 Is, and a job line of plain quality yearling steers brought 37s 6d. Yearling Shorthorn heifers realised £2 10s. There was very little demand for pigs. A line of eleven slips brought £1 10s, and four weaners were quitted at 16s.
