HARBOUR BOARD.
A MEMBER FOR PAEROA. UNFAIR REPRESENTATION ALLEGED. Exception was taken at the Thames Harbour Board meeting on Tuesday to a clause in the Harbour Bill appointing a representative from Pa,e ro:i Borough to the Board. Members stated that they did not; object to having a proper representation from areas, but considered the way the matter was done was a slight to the Board, which had not been even consulted. It was pointed out that Paeroa Borough valuation was only £365,000, whereas the Counties of Thames, Ohinemuri, and Hauraki Plains, with a valuation of £2,700,000, had only two representatives betweeh them, also that Morrinsville, with a larger valuation, had no representative. The opinion stated that the Board should have had a chance of putting the position before the passing of the Bill. Another member stated that the Board’s revenue would be seriously depleted by election fees every two years by adding to the personnel of the Board.
