Mr Sam Holes, who has been at the Wripukurau Sanatorium for some months past, ha.s so far recovered as to be able to return to his homo. At the meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council yesterday, Cr. J. Johnson, representative foi the Mangaiti riding, tendered his resignation from the Council. The resignation was accepted with regret, the chairman expressing the Council’s appreciation of the work carried out by Mr Johnson during his term of office. The many friends of Mr W. JByrne, of Thames Road, Paeroa, will be sorry to learn that he has had a severe attack of influenza, and, although recovered to a certain extent, the effect of his illness ’has been a recurrence of war disabilities, whicn necessitates Mr Byrne proceeding to the Hamner Convalescent Home for treatment. Mr Byrne will proceed south about the middle of next month.
