WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.

The Farmers’ Cp-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:—

Beef.—A fair amount of fat stock has been finding its way to market, and at most centres meets with brisk competition. Values generally are hardening,, prime quality ox making up tp 25s per 1001 b. Cow beef as a rule draws even better competition, values for prime quality reaching 21s. Mutton.—Fair supplies are still available and values generally are steady. Store Cattle.—There is little alteration in. the markets since we last reported. Everywhere a general apathy is apparent. Yardings are small, and consist principally of female stock. Grown steers have dropped out of popularity, although forward cows have risen in favour. Young heifers are plentiful, but except for wellbred Jerseys are not in keen demand. These latter maintain a strong position. Store Sheep.—There is a good inquiry for store sheep, and good business has been done recently in. breeding ewes. Hoggets are in demand, but are not plentiful. Dairy Cattle.—There has been little alteration in the markets recently. Clearing sale averages are not high, except in odd instances where tested herds have been offered. Pigs.—Supplies have fallen to a lower degree than has been known for a number of years.
