HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company report:— At Hamilton on Tuesday last we had a good yarding of cattle, but only a small yarding of sheep and pigsNo fat sheep were penned. A line of f.m. ewes in lamb failed to reach owner’s reserve. Beef was in good supply, and held the attention of buyers throughout. Values advanced on last week’s rates, prime quality bein j very firm. Heavy steers made from £8 Ils to £lO 19s, medium weight £5 10s to £7 2s ; heavy cows £5 10s to £7. lighter weights £4 10s to £5 ss, forv ard cows 35s to £2 13s; A good many grown steers were penned, but competition was exceedingly dull and practically no business resulted. Jersey cross heifer calves were also prominent, but the bulk of these were, in low conditions and did not change hands. Sales were made at from 32s 6d to £2 10s. Pigs were again in short supply, but competition throughout was characterised by keenness. Heavy baconers made from I’4 5s to £4 19s, light baconerp £3 2s to £3 17s 6d ; porkers £2 5s to £3 Is ; slips 21,s to 345; weaners 16s to 21s 6d.
