DOG ARISTOCRATS.

—.—* , TERRIER WORTH £8 AN OUNCE. ONE ANIMAL TAKES 13 “ FIRSTS” There were 511 dogs and as many different noises at the Joint Terrier Championship Show at Olympia, Kensington. The only dog present that did not bark was •Mr J. R. Barlow’s wire-haired terrier Crockley Sensation, which is valued at £lOOO, and which collected thirteen first prize tickets. It weighs only 181bs., and so is worth more than £3 an ounce. The most vain dpg was an Airedale, Neville Perfection, which was having its portrait painted and trying to look unconscious of its importance, while it, loftily ignored the insults yapped out by a Cairn terrier opposite. The busiest dog was a little Kerry Blue terrier which spent the afternoon killing a waterproof that someone had left within reach ; and the most affectionate dog was a bull terrier that implored everybody to pac it. In the “ring” one fox terrier, apparently under the impression that the judge was playing a game, circled round him in swift and joyous leaps, with the result that the dog, the girl at the other end of the leash, and the judge were soon embarrassingly entangled. QUICK TOUR. Many visitors from London and the pr ivinces attended the exhibition, but none of them saw as, much ip a short time as a little girl who was brought in at the end of a chain by a big dog of no particular breed, but of a devouring curiosity. Clutching the chain with both hands, that girl made a complete tour of the show in record time. The total value of the dogs exhibited was more than £lO,OOO. The fashionable terriers at present are Airedales and Sealyhams.
